NBTS "RICHARD BUTCHER" NEW INVESTIGATOR AWARD

The New Investigator Research Award is presented to the best paper by a new investigator in the field. This year, this award will be named in honor of NBTS founding member, Dr. Richard Butcher. The paper must be published or in press in a peer reviewed journal during the 2008 calendar year and need not have been published in NTT. The applicant must be first author of the paper and either a current student or have completed their degree within the last 3 years. A New Investigator Award will not be made for a paper previously having received a Conference Award. The winner will present the paper at the annual meeting in a platform session and be awarded with a plaque honoring their achievement. All of the winner's expenses at the meeting, including registration fees, will be paid.

NBTS CONFERENCE AWARDS

To assist graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and laboratory assistants who have contributed significantly to research, the Neurobehavioral Teratology Society has a limited number of Conference Awards for the 2009 meeting. These awards, designed to defray a portion or all of the costs of travel to the meeting are in the amount of $700 each and will be presented at the annual business meeting of the Society. Additionally, the registration fee for the meeting will be waived for recipients of Conference Awards. Eligible minority students are encouraged to apply.

TERATOLOGY SOCIETY JAMES C. BRADFORD MEMORIAL STUDENT POSTER AWARD

This is an award for the best poster presentation by a student at the annual meetings of the Teratology Society (TS) and Neurobehavioral Teratology Society (NBTS). It is jointly sponsored by the Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association (MARTA) and Sanofi-Aventis in honor of Dr. Jim Bradford. Dr. Bradford was a past-President of MARTA and Sigma Xi, and he served on Committees of the TS. He was Director of Research and Development Operations at Sanofi-Aventis at the time of his death. He mentored several current members of the Teratology Society and was a pioneer in Industrial Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) Testing.
