Abstract Deadline EXTENDED-Feb 14, 2008!

December 14, 2007

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Hard to believe we are coming up on the holidays and it is already time to think about abstract submission for our next NBTS meeting in beautiful Monterey, CA June 29-July 2, 2008. The abstract submission deadline is February 14, 2008 and will be online via our website www.nbts.org beginning in early January. Our conference site, the Hyatt Regency Resort Hotel at Monterey is an excellent venue because of its proximity to a large local audience of scientists from academic, government, and industrial research settings. It is a beautiful resort and close to many restaurants and museums, and of course, the Monterey Aquarium. Our meeting also begins the weekend of the 23rd Annual Monterey Blues Festival! You may want to consider arriving early to take in some of the shows, but I recommend making arrangements very soon! More information can be obtained at www.montereyblues.com.

This year's meeting is shaping up to be a very exciting one! Some highlights include a joint symposium with Teratology Society (TS) on Environmental Exposures to Pesticides and Metals: Impact on Neurodevelopment in Humans and Animal Models. Keeping with this theme, our Elsevier Distinguished Lecture scheduled for Monday June 30 will be given by Dr. David Bellinger, a renowned epidemiologist of developmental disorders associated with environmental causes. A second symposium is planned for Sunday June 29 on Developmental Neurotoxicity and Fetal Behavior Within the Framework of Epigenetics. The Teratology Society Continuing Education Course will be held Saturday, June 28 and looks terrific! The theme for this course is CNS Functional Teratology and NBTS has had a strong presence in both programming and course instruction. You might consider taking this in the day before the official start of NBTS as it promises to be a very interesting for students and well-seasoned members alike. Visit our NBTS website where you will find a link to our sister societies, TS and OTIS to view their preliminary programs and additional information on the Education course. Also new this year, a price break for joint registration for two or three of the Societies has been implemente
